Hellas Sat Showcases a Satellite-Enabled Emergency Response Vehicle for Civil Protection at InterAigis 2026

Hellas Sat showcased its new Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) at InterAigis 2026, introducing an integrated satellite-enabled solution designed to ensure uninterrupted operational communications during emergencies and crisis situations. Developed to support civil protection authorities, municipalities and first responders, the ERV combines secure satellite connectivity with real-time situational awareness, strengthening emergency response capabilities across a wide range of operational environments.

A New Operational Solution for Emergency Response

During the 3rd International InterAigis Exhibition, dedicated to Civil Protection, Fire Safety, Security and Special Equipment for Local Government Authorities, Hellas Sat presented its latest operational project: the Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV).

Designed to enhance operational readiness, the ERV enables public authorities to rapidly restore communications whenever terrestrial infrastructure becomes unavailable due to natural disasters or other emergency situations.

Reliable Communications When They Matter Most

As climate change and extreme weather events continue to increase in both frequency and intensity, resilient communication infrastructure has become essential for effective crisis management.

Drawing on its long-standing expertise in satellite communications and its cooperation with government authorities, Hellas Sat developed the ERV to address one of the most critical operational challenges: restoring communications when conventional terrestrial networks are no longer available.

A Satellite-Enabled Mobile Command Centre

The Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) is a fully mobile operational unit that can be deployed rapidly to remote islands, mountainous regions or disaster-affected areas where communications infrastructure has been damaged.

Powered by Hellas Sat’s satellite network, the vehicle restores broadband connectivity in real time while serving as a mobile command and coordination centre in the field.

Its operational capabilities include:

  • Real-time broadband satellite connectivity
  • Mobile command and coordination capabilities
  • Optical and thermal surveillance systems
  • Day and night support for wildfire response and civil protection operations
  • Drone-based aerial reconnaissance and damage assessment

Enhancing Situational Awareness

One of the ERV’s key advantages is its ability to create a unified operational environment for all responding organisations, including fire services, civil protection authorities and local government agencies.

Through the live transmission of operational data and video to coordination centres, decision-makers gain real-time situational awareness. This enables faster assessment of evolving conditions, improves coordination between agencies and supports the efficient deployment of both ground and aerial response teams.

Presented at InterAigis 2026

The project attracted significant interest from institutional visitors throughout the exhibition.

Among them was the Deputy Minister for Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Evangelos Tournas, who visited the Hellas Sat booth to learn more about the operational capabilities of the Emergency Response Vehicle. During the visit, Hellas Sat Commercial Director Konstantinos Geroulis presented the project and discussed how satellite-enabled communications can strengthen national civil protection capabilities.

Supporting the Future of Civil Protection

Through its participation in InterAigis 2026, Hellas Sat reaffirmed its commitment to developing advanced satellite-enabled solutions for Civil Protection, Fire Safety and operational support for Local Government Authorities.

The Emergency Response Vehicle demonstrates how secure satellite communications can enhance operational resilience, strengthen coordination among responding agencies and support more effective crisis management whenever terrestrial infrastructure is unavailable.
