PRESS RELEASE 16/04/2008
During 2007, HELLAS SAT has further strengthened its position in the international satellite market, especially in Europe and Middle East, regions where utilisation rate approached the levels of 100%, being 79% for the total of the satellite capacity. It is also worth noting the commercial success of the two main DTH platforms of Dolce in Romania and Bulsatcom in Bulgaria.
The total of TV channels broadcasted on the satellite reaches 170, including the transmission of an HDTV channel performed in cooperation with the Greek Ministry of Communications and Transportation.
During the last year, HELLAS SAT has also started cooperation with the national PTT of the Republic of South Africa for its combined voice and data satellite services. This cooperation has already started to contribute significant revenues from the region.
Another major achievement has been the further penetration of the broadband satellite Internet service that HELLAS SAT is offering mainly in the markets of Greece and Cyprus, providing broadband access capabilities to areas that terrestrial broadband infrastructure is still poor.
The financial results of the company have also improved significantly for 2007, with the revenues reaching 23.5 million Euro, an increase of 57% over 2006. The company is showing profitability, while further improvement is expected for 2008.
The CEO of HELLAS SAT, Mr. Christodoulos Protopapas, has commented: “HELLAS SAT has already been established as a key player in the markets that has been focusing so far. The target of the company will now be the maximisation of its contributing value to OTE group and its shareholders”.
